Google Knol sounds like a good idea to me, the layout though seems a little boring when I went to check it out I was not drawn in at all and left pretty quickly.
Yet another website that will waste a good portion of my time spent at work

Knol is more of a collection of creditable blogs on interested knowledge. The relation among different blog owners is competitive. Knowledge can be discussed or presented in a very personal way.
yes i have listen lot about Google Knol. And it is considering clone of wikipedia. But i must say it is very easy to use. And it’s visibility is too good. I didn’t use lot this but i am satisfied by it’s control and options………
Knol I am sure will be a hit , the good thing I personally feel is great is the feature where they check your personal information with a credit card verification, bring in a lot of authenticity …… Good Job Google.

wikipedia has already established it’s position as one of the leading free encyclopedias on the web… but i won’t be surprised if google gives wiki a run for their money…

I just don’t see how they can take over Wikipedia. It’s kind of like how Cuil is going to just be competing with a juggernaut.
You forgot about Phone Verification - Google will verify your identity using your phone. This will add to the legitimacy of the articles. It will help a lot to control the quality!

Nice alternative to Squidoo and HubPages. I wouldn’t say 100% share…Google gets their cut but I know what ya mean…good article
It remains to be seen how well it catches on….I dont think Knol will face a problem in getting publishers to write content but getting people interested in reading and searching Knols is something to watch out for.

No.. never heard of this. Just went browsing tho. It looks rather interesting. Wikipedia still seems much cleaner to me.

The bigges problem of wikipedia are false data inside library. I wounder how will they care about the quality. These rating stars are not the solution
How It will have more valueable data than yahoo answers 
Unfortunately it’s open to US users only, really looking forward to the international launch. What I saw so far looks great and very promising.
I had read about this Google Knol some months ago, I didn’t realise it was already in Beta. Thanks for the heads up.
It will be interesting to see how it competes with wikipedia as Knol seems more like a collaborative effort of others. I like the idea that you could write an article based on experience of a subject rather than knowledge based on academic learning.
Google is out for world domination but they certainly have the resources for it. Knol is pretty cool and I am sure they can manipulate their search listings to give preference to their links over wikipedia.

The question on many peoples mind will be…is this the beginning of the end of Wikipedia?
As we all know, Wikipedia’s articles are heavily moderated and almost all of their contents have been verified to be factual. Will Google Knol have a relaxed approach to its moderation thus allowing articles that may spring up from beliefs and dogma?
Only time will tell….
I love google knol. Its really like wikipedia though. I love the revenue sharing part.
Interesting, I’ve never even heard of this and I belong to several forums that concentrate on getting rankings in Google but do cover other features like Chrome, Adsense and others. Looks like they’re trying to be another Wikipedia. While Google is powerful, I don’t think they should try overstepping their boundaries into other free services that others have been successful at.

Google Knol is definitely nice… but I dont think it will ever replace wikipedia
