Making Money as an Amazon Associate

I’m sure you’re all aware that Amazon has an affiliate program and you can make upwards of 10% commission just for having people order products via your Amazon product links.

You may also know about the aStore feature in which you can easily create as many as 100 stores and host them on Amazon. A better option is to embed the aStore in one of your sites via an Iframe tag. The Iframe code is easily available when you are editing your aStore.

The beauty of all of this is that it is all easy to do, doesn’t require any shipping headaches from running your own store, and that there are millions of Amazon customers that won’t be put off when they are ready to checkout. The aStores show a “Powered by Amazon” logo, which would instill a level of trust in your customer.

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and make a few aStores and add some Amazon product links to your blogs! It’s all free for you!

First, join Amazon Associates

Once you are registered, you will be able to begin building aStores. You can literally build an aStore in as little as 15 minutes! Although, I’d recommend taking more time, just to make it right.

Click here to Build an aStore

Once you’ve created your aStores, add your store to this free Amazon/aStore directory You do need to be a Squidoo member (remember, Squidoo pays you because they are a revenue sharing site).

If you’re not a Squidoo member yet, please click the logo Squidoo

To make adding your links even easier, you can use this Firefox addon to easily add Amazon product links. The tool will give you the link in either html or as a simple url. It will include your Amazon Associates ID in the link. Very nice!

  2. I’ve never had good luck with Amazon but then again, I didn’t put a lot of work into it. Might be time to look at it again.

  3. Good idea. I’ve been tossing around the thought of doing this for a while. This is bookmarked! :)

  4. Well, Many people are earning some really good income from those affiliates. Choosing the right products and marketing the website in right place gives a very good income.
Squidoo lens are also very good source of Traffic and helps a lot.

  5. I have been using Amazon for almost a year and I give 2-3 hours a day to market my website and it has generate some income which is not that bad.

Making a niche store which interest you can quite help a lot. Using Squidoo and other social bookmarking websites can helps generating niche traffic.

  6. I have tried several approaches to amazon affiliate program but there is a huge problem for me there – visitors of my sites are from eastern Europe and Amazon is not a popular name here simply because they don’t sell actively. Thus to even get some sales one must have a lot of capital for marketing penetration and it is doubtful if it’s worth it. I have not lost hope though for the future.

  7. I never had good experiences with Amazon affiliates, but i am trying hard, because a lot are making fortunes with them.

  8. Actually, you can make lots of money with the combination of stumbleupon and amazon products. Also, as a thumb rule, every 2 of 5 posts on my other blogs I include some related amazon products links. Amazon is so popular and people trust to them. You will surely have nice sales if you insist on building links for a year at least.

  9. I put some amazon widgets on my blogs, it’s worth it

  10. It is important to work with your own domain. Because you have to post a lot of unique content referring to the products in your amazon shop…

  11. Thanks for the tips.. looks good tho we can start selling tru amazon.. will give it a try for sure..

  12. Hmm.. Too bad this only works for western countries. =/ Nice find though. It’s kinda cool that you’re sharing this out. Cheers.

  13. well, I’ve been an Amazon associate, sold rather good and then it turned out that I couldn’t cash my money, as I’m not in the USA, they didn’t mind signing my up (while I clearly stated my country)

sure, they have it somewhere in the small prints, but it wasn’t clear at first, they did offer me the option to get paid with checks after I already gave them my country info …

I felt ripped of, they still own me $150, there’s no way for me to get that money …

  14. I’ve heard that there haev been very poor results with amazon associate tools. Thoughts?

  15. Very good information on setting up the Amazon and Squidoo combination. We will be trying out your suggestions.

  16. Amazon works good, except I’ve only had success with it with my websites that are extremely focused on a certain niche.

  17. I’m definitely going to check this out. I’ve only used Amazon for reviews and such before. No luck with sidebar widgets or anything.

  18. Actually Amazon Associates is one of the least recommended ways to make some money online. They have extremely low commissions and sometimes your Associate ID links become “untrackable” for no reason at all. Just some gripes I find about the Amazon program.

  19. I never heard of this before but I think I might try it out. Thanks!

  20. thx for the info, i’m going to try it today

  21. Hm, the comment about not getting paid if you are in the US perturbs me, as I was thinking about adding some widgets to my site but ma not USA based.

I’ll have to look into it further, glad I stumbled by

  23. Great post and nice blog!! I just signed up as an Amazon Associate. I have not checked out the aStores but will very soon. Amazon is a great affiliate to promote. I know I always end up buying books from Amazon every month. If you can match the product with your post, they’ll sell.

    Thanks for the tips!
